Waffles for a Euro!

Welkom (Dutch for Welcome) to the info on Day 3. Not as exciting as Day 2 because we are all suffering lack of sleep combined with more exercise than usual.

The day began with mandatory breakfast. Off to orientation earlier than the day before, but we are all pumped and ready to go. During our briefing, two Baylor alumni come speak with us about how they fell in love with these cultures. In a nutshell, one now lives in Belgium with his wife. The second met a Dutch guy and continued extending her stay once finished with the semester; she is now married to him and works for the University. We are given specific rules on attendance and participation in our new classes.

After about an hour of orientation, two current University students show us where all the different buildings are located in relation to the main Center for European Studies building. Not too bad minus the fact I do not quite remember all of the buildings names and streets of their location. Not to fret, that is what leaving an hour earlier than required is all about.
The two students show us the practical parts of Maastricht and where all that we will ever need and more is located. At the end of this, we all depart our separate ways to accomplish goals and tasks. First on the agenda, eat something original! Second, find the 1 Euro waffle stand. Third, find a phone that works all over Europe. I am proud to report that the first 2 of 3 were accomplished. Number three will come into action after I have returned from London. Today was more of an ask questions and scope it all out.

Fifty minute one-way walk to the train station to validate our Eurail train tickets and exchange a little bit more mula. Life is expensive whether you stay in one place or travel everywhere: another lesson learned. The group of us walking together attempt the buses but decide why not, we need to walk more anyways. So another 50 min walk we are back in the Guest House and heading to dinner. Oh spaghetti was the entree and was incredible! At some point, I must have twisted my knee with all the uneven surfaces. So, Amanda and I stayed in for the night to pack and rest up for London. If we are to do so, I need to end this entry and go to sleep.

To another fun filled day! Day 3
